4000 words

Posting from my phone again. I was being batshit insane last week and decided to try and get 8000 by tonight. Well, it’s only 3pm and I’m halfway there, but I do have a bunch of stuff to do this evening, so we’ll see. 5k is definite though.

And that’s a wrap (50k)

So 50 000 words happened.

Heh. I’m not as excited as I thought I might be. I’ve never won NaNoWriMo before, so I figured it would be pretty damn sweet when I actually did.

And I have.

And I guess it is pretty damn sweet.

But I was more excited about finding a forgotten box of chocolate in the back of cupboard—awwww yeeeeah—than hitting that 50k.

I figure it’s a bit too abstract of a concept.

On FocusWriter, the program I did all my writing on, the 50 000th word is… ‘he’. Fascinating, right?

On MSword—‘bags’

Sigh.

And I was one word away from ‘Kizzy’—main character’s name—being the 50 000th word.

As for progress plot-wise… I’m maybe halfway done? Maybe a tiny bit more than halfway by now?

Two things

THING ONE

Haven’t mentioned NaNo in a long time. No worries, still doing it. 32k in right now, two hours until midnight, still have to write 1.5k but I’m procrastinating because that’s what I do.

My other main character (do you see that word right there? it says main. because he is a main character.) still has not shown up. I could go on all day about how frustrated I am with this, but I have ranted about it in various places for days, and am trying not to do much more of it.

I should post

So I am. I’m at 11k right now. wrote aprox 5k day one, 2k day two, 3k day three, and… 1k yesterday. I was out all day OKAY!!!!!!!

kidding. Well, I was out all day. Today I continue to aim for 2-3k, though I will be out and about a bit today too.

What’s happened since last time? I wrote 2000 words of mythology, Kizzy listened to 2000 words of mythology, a kid shared a rumour and Kizzy just broke a guy out of ‘jail’—a little one room box called the Wait. Well, actually she just broke two guys out, but the second one was rudimentarily holding the first hostage. Jerk.

New character: Pox. All that’s known about him so far is that he was in the Wait for lighting a stack of dung on fire and almost killing a guy. He’s barely eighteen, tall for an Edge-towner, pale-haired for an Edge-towner, though his long hair is only light brown, and blue eyed—also unusual for an Edge-towner. Why? He’s only half Edge-towner. I haven’t stated that outright in the narrative, but any character who looked at him would figure that out right away, so yeah.

He hasn’t said much, but he has promised to take Kizzy to find the last Unmaker. How well is that gonna turn out? Not well at all.

Other new character: the leathery-faced man. He’s been that in my head for two years, and it’s damn hard to name him. He’s old, at forty-three, and in good shape. He’s definitely pure Edge-towner—dark hair, green eyes, reddish brown skin. Or is he? There’s flecks of gold in his sharp green eyes, something you don’t see just anywhere. He’s got a wide, blunt face with an easy smile. He’s killed, and he’ll do it again, if it’ll get him something he wants. He takes care of himself, and maybe those he takes a liking to.

He’s taken a liking to Kizzy—a good thing, or a bad thing?

Word count (Day One final)

Alrighty! My friend wants me over to play Skyrim, since she’s a huge scaredy cat who won’t go into caves without me, so I’m done for the day. Day one word count = 5062. Awesome. I’m happy with that—5k was my goal, and for me that’s a pretty big number of words to write in a day. I promised a quick summary, but I want teh Skyrimz, so here’s a REALLY quick summary:

Nothing’s happened. Kizzy ran away from a scaled cat-beast, got her bow broken, angsted, angsted some more, had a nightmare/lazy author exposition moment, angsted, aaaannnd wandered around shooting pebbles at things with her slingshot. Good thing she has horrible aim.

I stopped quite literally immediately before PLOT HAPPENS so there will be plot tomorrow.

See ya after Skyrimz.

Word count (Day One)

2 379. Going to bed, and will try to make that number double itself by the end of day one. At that point, I’ll summarize what’s happened thus far in my novel, and talk about feelings. Yay.
